Saturday, April 29, 2023, started around 5:45 am. Up early for a show day! Hannah slept on the bottom bunk bed in the RV. She said it was comfortable, but it looked small to me. I think her feet hung off the “bigger than a twin, but not quite a full size” mattress when she stretched. Hannah wanted the king bed, but as long as I paid the horse bills, that wasn’t happening. I offered to let her sleep with me, but she wanted her own space. Had I known the future, I would have insisted. Hannah showed Danny in the jumpers. It went so well, the trainers gave Hannah the green light to ride a little faster on Sunday. She lit up like a Christmas tree in the Griswold house! Quaxx had a good day, too. They won first place in a hunter over fences round. Hannah held that ribbon like a badge of honor. Quaxx is, definitely, not a hunter horse, but Hannah rode him like a champ. Unfortunately, the next round wasn’t as successful. Hannah is a great rider, but still working on consistency, like the majority of juniors. No worries, Hannah loved riding when she learned and when she won. It wasn’t really about the ribbons for Hannah, although they’re nice. Riding was and is all about Hannah’s love of horses💙🐴. We ended the day with another reserved table at the Grand Prix that evening (thanks to Robin and some issues from the night before). We had dinner, dessert and a great show! We were all thrilled when Tricia, Danny’s previous owner, won the Grand Prix! It was, truly, a fantastic day and a great weekend! Hannah and I had a great time as daughter and mother. I am blessed with wonderful memories.
