We purchased our log cabin property originally as an evacuation location due to living on the water. We lovingly nicknamed it “The Farm,” not knowing that someday we would purchase the surrounding properties and live there full time with actual farm animals. Those early days on the property were amazingly restful and fun. Often, dad would recruit David and Hannah to feed the stocked fish in our little pond. As the fish grew, dad would take David fishing in the pond. Oh, how excited David would get each time he caught a fish. He was so proud. I think dad got a little tickled when he caught his own fish, too. The guys would return their trophy fish to the water to grow some more. Those days were so laid back. We’d spend the evenings cooking dinner, hot dogs and marshmallows over a campfire. Fishing days made for wonderful family time.
